Reporting to the Store Manager, the Compliance Lead owns an area of the retail business and uses strong leadership skills to create an exceptional experience for retail staff and customers.

As a member of the retail management team, you are accountable for compliance initiatives, and acting as a resource to your team mates.

You interact with customers as they enter the store and understand what it means to be a brand ambassador inside and outside of our stores.

  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance at store level
  • Greet guests as they enter the store, checking identification and assessing intoxication
  • Be a leader in workplace health, safety and environment initiatives
  • Lead by example and deliver exceptional, intentional customer service
  • Stay up-to-date (and ensure staff are up to date as well) with product knowledge, company information, new launches, campaigns and promotions
  • Be a leader in supporting your teammates understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape
  • Be a leader in asset protection and loss prevention initiatives
  • Think outside the box and offer solutions to retail management team to improve and achieve operational excellence
  • Ensure the store meets and adheres to all compliance training and operational standards and procedures (education, security, checklists etc.)
  • Adhere to all legislative requirements of cannabis retailers, including federal, provincial and municipal legislation
  • Assist the management team in interacting with regulatory inspectors, and reporting on their activities
  • Encourage and educate on pharmacovigilance
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organization skills to keep priorities in focus
  • Use strong floor management skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the store and drive sales
  • Own your area of the store architecture or retail business as a creative entrepreneur with a high degree of personal responsibility
  • Be detail oriented, taking notes and reporting accurately on events which occur in the store
  • Conduct weekly audits of the stores camera system to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Perform inventory spot checks and report on your findings
  • Assist team members in deescalating difficult situations
  • Enforce all company policies and programs, ensuring compliance
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager
  • Recommend improvements to your compliance toolkit
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years of floor management experience
  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Able to lift boxes 5-30 lbs
  • Must be comfortable working evenings and weekends
  • Resourceful, creative and solution-oriented
  • A leader with a proven ability to train others
  • Proven ability to drive positive customer experiences that build loyalty and deliver measurable results
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills
  • You are interested in compliance and driven to ensure our stores operate within legislative requirements
  • You are open to feedback and coaching
  • You demonstrate high levels of integrity and personal responsibility
  • You are trustworthy and customer-oriented
  • Bonus points if you’ve worked in a regulated environment before
  • Preference may be given to candidates with first aid training
