A key leadership role enabling Keurig Dr Pepper Canadian Business Unit Coffee Expansion, Innovation and Productivity Strategies to ensure we continue to be the leader in premium coffee and specialty beverages, a go-

to partner for Keurig System Innovation, and a part of our coffee center of excellence. The product development leader will :

  • Ensure brand innovation is developed and differentiated new products are delivered to support the values of unrivaled quality, creativity and innovation across core brands, existing pipeline, and new Innovation Platforms.
  • Mitigate input costs and enhancing margins through joined up cost leadership programs.
  • Advance the business through technical excellence ensuring all aspects meet or exceed the quality and product performance requirements within a managed timeline and cost objective.
  • Be tightly connected and a key contributor to the broader Beverage and Appliance R&D function and USBU Innovation and Productivity Teams
  • Lead and develop a local team of technical resources underpinning the BU ambitions
  • Responsibilities : The role is a balance of hands on product development, project management, and group leadership. The Senior manager leads product development for Owned-

    Licensed, Partner, and Private Label Coffee and Specialty Beverages from Concept to Commercialization.As a member of the Coffee R&D Leadership Team the functional leader will :

  • Represent R&D on the Canadian Marketing & Innovation and Partner Business Teams and be a key technical representative to our Partners R&D / Brand teams
  • Create and develop new products, rapid prototype, and establish a robust growth pipeline; assuring great tasting beverages with clear points of differentiation through robust design, sensory, and consumer testing methods
  • Lead and direct scale-up and commercialization across our supply network, suppliers, and co-packers
  • Orchestrate work to deliver technical programs across Innovation, Quality, and Costs
  • Coach and build capabilities in creativity, new product and category development, and technology innovation to assure industry leading excellence in new platform innovation and coffee product development
  • Build a positive culture, grow talent, and inspire teams
  • Leverage R&D centers of Excellence based in Plano, Waterbury, and Burlington
  • The R&D leader is accountable for the creative inspiration and performance delivery of ingredient, product, and process innovation including joined up work plans across R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain.

    The leader will set the tone for creating possibilities, the standards of technical excellence, commerciality, and quality.

    Equally accountable for the transformation of the function to become a robust high performing R&D function that underpins and elevates our business units and overall enterprise performance.

    The candidate must have proven experience in influencing and supporting executive level leaders, external stakeholders, and programs and equally able to roll up sleeves to deliver great work and engage at all levels and functions of organization.

    Candidates should possess : Proven ability to create technical points of difference that provide sustainable competitive insulation from branded and private label competitiveness, understand how to interpret regulatory compliance standards, and know how to set the manufacturing process / procedures that assure design for quality and conformance to specification. Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Engineering. Post-graduate degree preferred. Coffee experience a bonus.
  • 10 years of broad and deep Product Innovation, Value Generation, and Commercialization, preferably across new platform innovation, beverages and customer driven projects.
  • The candidate will have increasing levels of responsibility and leadership accountability.

  • Technical competency in formulation and sensory sciences, culinary trends, ingredient functionality, and commercialization.
  • Adept understanding of sensory, consumer, analytical and physical testing methodologies
  • Strong commercial acumen, technical development skills, judgment and understanding of the business and industry.
  • A mix of career experience across R&D, Quality, and Culinary creation
  • Demonstrated leadership strength in developing and leveraging supplier innovation.
  • Successfully executed programs from idea to implementation, completing the research and business case to drive the change.
