Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Head of Analytics will be a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for overseeing the creation and overall ownership of the analytics strategy and execution across all of Fairstone’s product lines.

The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of data science and analytics and seeks to transform and innovate in this space, leveraging historical structures and knowledge that come with a vast proprietary consumer database while integrating alternative techniques and data sources into advanced analytics.

The candidate will work cross-functionally with IT, the product organization and the broader business to turn raw data into valuable insights for large and small initiatives across multiple channels that the organization needs in order to grow and compete.

What you will do :

  • Leadership / Supervisory Role : The most prominent function is to lead the team of experienced and varied Data and Analytics professionals.
  • Key to success will be to ensure that these key roles are being executed in the most efficient way possible, while identifying skill gaps that may need to be filled or built out.

  • Spearheads the analytics strategy formation, innovation, prioritization as well as oversees execution of all reporting to ensure that the data and analytics strategy is meeting the business goals.
  • Works closely with management in establishing departmental goals and strategies and works with junior data analytics and engineers in defining the data collection needs of the business for the purpose of future work and also for guaranteeing that there is high data-quality and reliability across the business.
  • Partners with numerous departments across the business, aiding them in the proper use of data, hence, ensuring the delivery of desired operational results as well as ensuring that the analytics strategy provides key strategic insights to help inform business decisions, solve interesting problems and have a material impact on the company’s results.
  • Builds on the legacy of data-driven decision making and promotes a culture of collaboration across the organization.
  • Plays a mentorship / coach role for key data and analytics personnel, constantly ensuring improvement in their professional skills and offering assistance in their duties as required.

    What you need :

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Business Administration, or any other related field.
  • An equivalent of this requirement in working experience is also acceptable.

  • Experience managing a P&L and / or reporting to a C-level executive a plus. A candidate for this position must have had at least 7 years of working experience in a data analyst or data warehousing position, preferably working as a Senior Data Analyst in a fast-paced and complex business setting.
  • The candidate will also have had a proven and successful experience in the execution of data analytics initiatives, leading to the development of useful insights and the improvement of a business’s performance and driving top-line growth.

  • Demonstrated success leading analytics and a large analytical team as well as vast experience working with a wide range of data in order to predict financial metrics for a business.
  • A suitable candidate will additionally have demonstrated experience building and leading quantitative analyses as well experience building response models for a business.

    As a bonus, the candidate will have gathered experience working with large data-sets and computing systems.

  • Superior collaboration skills allowing you to be effective in communicating and bringing together many functional groups, aiding them in the proper application of data, leading to functional improvement.
  • As a departmental leader, the clarity of communications down the line will be a major contributing factor to the performance and effectiveness of the junior data analytics personnel.

  • A demonstrated passion for research and data and be highly skilled in performing quantitative analyses on various business functions, for example, on consumer behavior and trends.
  • The candidate must also be highly skilled in being able to draw complex queries that ultimately lead to improvements in business performance.

    The candidate for this position will additionally have an understanding of A / B testing as well as vast knowledge in the identification of key metrics that measure and drive long-term health of the business.

  • Ability to work independently and still retain a high level of self-motivation; a possession of a high degree of professional as well as personal integrity;
  • an ability to work effectively in a group setting and the ability to that group in a unified direction; being detail orientated;
  • superior problem solving and organizational and skills; and an ability to conceptualize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with ease.
