Current growth rates mean that young people at age 20 face a 1 in 2 lifetime risk of developing the condition. To stem the tide of this epidemic, Diabetes Canada is raising its sights to deliver impact at a population level by advocating for Based in our Yorkland office in the Greater Toronto Area, the Coordinator, Community Engagement is responsible for fundraising through the coordination, execution and delivery of events and programs at the local level, ensuring that these meet or exceed revenue and attendance targets.

This includes national campaigns, expositions, third party-initiated campaigns and local community-based events in and around Ottawa.

The Coordinator, Community Engagement is a sales-based role that is a critical contributor to our revenue-generating efforts.

Generation of new sponsors and partners is key to success, as the role is 70% sales, 30% logistical coordination of events.

This role reports to the Manager, Community Engagement, and is based in our Ottawa office. Fundraising / Revenue Generation : Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals by coordinating and executing various fundraising events and programs in alignment with regional and national plans Drive attendance at events through cold calling, networking, etc.

Identify and maximize event revenue generation opportunities; e.g., ticket sales, silent auctions, raffles, table sales etc.

to meet or exceed fundraising goals Solicit sponsorships up to $5,000 Corporate / Community Engagement and Networking : Solicit, leverage and engage volunteers to support and run events Source and cultivate strategic partnerships with third party organizations to host a fundraising event with proceeds benefiting Diabetes Canada Engage, network and support third party events through sharing of resources, tools and best practices Event Management : Collaborate with the regional and national team to identify fundraising events and develop implementation plans for event maximization and execution at the local level Coordinate and execute events within budget while maximizing return Evaluate return on investment and implement improvements to achieve higher impact and return at future events Anticipate and plan for future events, trends, problems and opportunities Post-

secondary education, preferably in business, project management, fundraising, and / or marketing, or other relevant programs Work experience in fundraising, sales, event coordination, marketing and / or not-

for-profit Proven sales success Demonstrable experience managing large events (250+) People and volunteer management experience an asset Strong communication skills Achievement-

oriented goal-setter Highly organized with strong attention to detail Flexible and responsive Collaborative relationship-

builder Computer proficiency, preferably including experience with social media Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and, where applicable, must have a valid work permit or study permit that allows the candidate to fulfill the requirements of the role.
