Position : Community Relations Specialist
Job OverviewThe Community Relations Specialist develops and executes all sponsorship and community events in-store and off-
site with minimum supervision. This position is responsible for the fulfillment of donation requests and the execution of corporate sponsorship and charitable initiatives, communicating and increasing awareness of the impact of our charitable giving programs and encouraging team members to volunteer in community events.
In addition, this position will monitor and evaluate the overall sponsorship budget with key stakeholders. Also involved with reaching out and building new relationships / community partners prior to store openings.
Accountabilities : Donation Request Fulfillment & Execution
Respond to online sponsorship and donation requests in a timely manner
Confirm terms of sponsorship agreements with the charitable partner
Make arrangements for activating Longo’s Gift Cards, funding in the form of a cheque, product or other support
Recruit, train and lead Longo’s team members to execute and / or participate in events as required
Coordinate, set up and tear down Longo’s booth or table, sampling products, product giveaways and / or promoting services for the event
Record all donation fulfillment details in CRM
Develop and maintain SOP for all sponsorship and charitable programs, including components relating to CRM
Procure and maintain inventory of promotional tools and supplies
Communication & Promotion
Own and maintain the corporate sponsorship and charitable events calendar
Promote upcoming events, the impact of past events, and / or thank customers for their support in a variety of in-store and online communication vehicles
Communicate volunteer opportunities to team members
Work with creative design team in marketing to coordinate promotion of community giving and communications commitments made in the sponsorship or charitable agreement
Interact and negotiate with charitable partners to obtain the optimal exposure from the partnership
Review, analyze and monitor sponsor performance
Work in collaboration with charitable partners to resolve any issues arising out of contact relationships
Budgeting & Reporting
Monitor and maintain the charity giving accounts and sponsorship budget
Participate in the budgeting process for sponsorship's and charitable giving
Participate in sponsorship mix decisions, based on evaluation of performance and Company giving objectives
Field solicitations from outside groups and determine which charities will be supported by Longo’s
Monitoring & Evaluation
Conduct and report on post-event evaluation of major sponsorship's and charitable initiatives to key stakeholders
Lead / support the promotion, coordination and execution of the Team Member First, Neighbor-in-Need food bag, Toonies for Tummies, Spring Chicken and other programs
Lead community outreach in new store communities including TYR recruitment; oversee store opening celebrations
Coordinate, monitor, maintain and execute special programs as assigned

Job Knowledge, Skills & Credentials :
Bachelor’s Degree / College Diploma
Certification in event or meeting planning is preferred
2 3 years of related experience in special events or community relations coordination
Knowledge of marketing principles and techniques
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Food Retail industry
Strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent oral and written skills
Strong creative ability, excellent work ethic and a sense of urgency
Self-starter and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
Flexibility - Ability to work weekends and evening shifts, in a high-paced time-constrained environment
Strong sense of ownership, drive and enthusiasm
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
