RECEPTIONIST - CASUAL

Position summary :
TheReceptionist is to provide professional and courteous reception and switchboardservices to patients, family members, visitors, staff, volunteers and communitymembers.
Plays an integral role inemergency / disaster procedures and communications.
Greets visitors andresponds to queries from staff, patients, family members and the public in aprofessional and courteous manner.
Screens allindividuals entering designated entrance for symptoms, signs and travel basedon the provided screening guidelines (consists of asking questions on screeningform + / - temperature reading).
Utilizes thescreening tools provided to assess eligibility for entrance, includingscreening for signs and symptoms based on the screening tool.
Ensures all visitorsentering follow proper precautionary measures and wear appropriate personalprotective equipment when required.
Receives and signsfor registered mail and other delivered materials.
Receives incomingcalls in a courteous and efficient manner; prescreens and re-directs calls toappropriate staff and / or departments and patients and accepts or relaysmessages where required.
Operates the pagingsystem to communicate with staff regarding announcements, notifications, andemergency situations / codes.
Assists duringemergency codes by making public announcements, notification phone calls, callbacks and other tasks as defined in the Hospital’s Emergency Measures Manual.
Answers / responds toemergency fire telephone, elevator intercom, cardiac arrest annunciator andother emergency communication devices.
Processes securitycard and photo id requests in accordance with Runnymede Healthcare Centreprocedures.
Dispatchesappropriate departments (e.g. Pharmacy, Central Storage, Maintenance,Housekeeping & Food Services) to the loading dock when deliveries arrive.
Sorts and distributesincoming mail. Processes the Hospital’sout-going mail. This includes theweighing, stamping, registering of letters / parcels and delivers outgoing mailto mailbox.
Communicates with ISfor telephone extension assignments and updates the electronic telephonedirectory.
Provides secretarialand data entry support to Hospital as required.
Provides colourprinting, photocopying and laminating services as required.
The successfulcandidate will have the following qualifications / experience :
Secondary School Graduation Diploma or combination ofeducation and work experience.
Strong skills with Windows Operating Systems,Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook. General office equipment,fax, photocopy, Canada Post Machine etc.
1-2 years reception and / or switchboard experiencepreferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsincluding excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to work cooperatively with all staff.
Ability to deal with emergency situations in a calm,efficient and prompt manner
