A day in the life of a / an Business Operations Governance Manager include the following :

This position will operate as the primary SME and / or business owner representing HIFC for all projects / new development initiatives both locally and globally within RBWM.

The role is accountable for supporting effective governance and oversight across all wealth products within RBWM, ensuring that appropriate disclosure requirements are adhered to, products are being offered on a fair value basis and that the effective review of products to ensure that they are fit for purpose and adhere to FIM and local regulatory requirements.

The job holder will support the oversight of risk control, policy and self-governance within the RBWM wealth product frame work across all wealth product offerings in Canada.

This would cover all three Lines of Business (HIFC, HIDC and HPWS) within Canada.

The incumbent will support across a variety of risk and regulatory compliance based activities, including but not limited to product governance, group wealth governance, conduct risk and consumer disclosure.

The jobholder will be responsible for ensuring quality of deliverables / documentation, MI, and meeting minutes and depth of discussion with the objective of driving optimal value from the governance frameworks.

The job holder will support liaison between the risk functions and the business and ensure that CVM related transformational activities are tracked and reported to business leadership.

Principle Accountabilities :

  • Engage and influence key senior cross functional stakeholders both in-country and Group across Business, risk, compliance, legal
  • Oversee of services provided by Service Delivery in support of Wealth distribution activities :
  • Ensure that the business management and operations support for wealth products are both effectively and efficiently managed.
  • This includes adherence to Group and regulatory standards, the appropriate deployment of resources, the attainment of agreed operating plan objectives.

  • Own and manage on-going administration of Product Governance - CVM POC, Conduct Risk and Disclosure committee’s as Secretary as well as oversee the effectiveness of wealth related NPDD process
  • Work with internal partners (including Wealth Risk, AMCA, Audit, Compliance, ORIC, Information Risk, etc.).
  • Work with Finance and Analytics to establish and communicate business requirements to support Sales Performance Management initiatives
  • Manage and Oversee the RCA & MSII processes for wealth, ensuring ongoing review of business operations are completed and any potential risk is identified and addressed.
  • Oversee the successful implementation of Regulatory and Business driven changes wealth products.
  • Participate in forums as assigned and review strategies / policy on behalf of RBWM, consolidating responses and providing feedback and advice.
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
  • Partnership with Finance and across RBWM business, working with internal and external parties
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, ensuring collaboration throughout the organization
  • Define and make business recommendations providing guidance to Wealth leadership team on strategies to improve business performance
  • Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand Provide representation or coordinate strategic projects, analysis and presentations on behalf of Wealth team

  • Responsible for working with both internal and external partners (manufacturer) to identify and improve HIFC operational activity and improving overall efficiencies for the overall Wealth business
  • Assist in documenting and communicating the progress against plan, determining recommended actions as required by business Head
  • Ensures professional standards of business conduct, consistent with HSBC’s reputation
  • Implement group policy locally, maintain internal control standards
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), sanctions and reputational risks.
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within investment or wealth management industry experience which includes direct prior experience in a product development and or / product management environment Experience in planning and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to persuade and / or influence others in order to provide and obtain information relevant to the programs.
  • Excellent working knowledge of management principles and sales processes
  • Ability to accurately evaluate information and present recommendations based on facts
  • Capable to make performance projection recommendations for specific actions and or strategies
  • Successful project and staff management
  • Wide knowledge of HSBC policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks
  • Skills

  • Understand the Wealth strategy and contribute as required / assigned to accomplish this strategy
  • Highly developed inter-personal skills for dealing with a diverse range of senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated business knowledge, such as experience leading a P&L unit
  • Strong managerial, strategic planning, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, analytical, negotiation, project management, and team-building skills
  • Strong ability to use numerical data to develop tactical plans within the broad context of strategic plans and change them as warranted by results.
  • Proven ability in creating, implementing and assessing sales processes and sales support tools
  • Strong coaching and capability development skills an asset
  • Sound understanding of the customer segments, products offered and the competitive market
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Demonstrated ability to use MI and numerical data to develop tactical plans within the broad context of strategic plans and change them as warranted by results.
