Full time role : Senior Design Engineer Location : Chatham, Ontario (Canada) As the Senior Design Engineer you will leverage and enrich your telecommunications knowledge and experience along with your exceptional analytical and communications skills to support the Fiber to the Home initiatives for our internal and external teams.
You will play a key role in supporting OSP project execution from initial scoping to the approval and stamping of the final design.
You will also play a key role in the development and growth of the technical team. Qualifications : -Minimum 5 years of experience in OSP telecommunications design and construction including knowledge of fibre splicing, cable maintenance and OSP fibre cable placement.
Minimum eight years of aerial pole line engineering design experience at 44kV and below. - Thorough understanding and demonstrated application of CSA C22.
3 No.1 Overhead Systems, CSA C22.3 No.7 Underground Systems and Ontario Regulation 22 / 04. -Familiarity with a variety of hydro and telecommunications pole framing standards adopted in Ontario.
Familiarity with pole line construction. -Familiarity with a variety of third-party attachment processes. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a high-performance environment, deal with utility and municipal representatives in a professional manner, and willingness to travel primarily within Ontario as required for various projects.
Experience in SPIDACalc preferred, experience in PLS-Pole / CADD and Quick Pole also considered an asset. -Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications including MS Project (required / preferred).
Intermediate user of AutoCAD (required / preferred). Success Factors : -Solid understanding of engineering principals and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing. -Ability to work in a high performance environment, deal with utility and municipal representatives in a professional manner, and willingness to travel primarily within Ontario as required for various projects.
Working knowledge in SPIDACalc (and Quick Pole). -Understanding of safety codes including ESA 22 / 04 and CSA 22.3 No. 1-
