Role Summary

In collaboration with RyQ Ingeniería, the Consorcio RyQ- NA is responsible for the design review, inspection and supervision of the construction of a suspension bridge across the Chacao channel in Chile on behalf of the Client, the Ministry of Public Works.

When completed, the bridge will form an important link of the Chilean infrastructure, connecting the mainland with the Chiloé Island some 1,000 km south of Santiago.

Replacing today’s car ferries with a dual carriageway fixed link, the bridge will enhance future development in the sparsely populated southern regions of Chile.

The incumbent will be based on site in the Puerto Montt area, Chile and will perform site supervision duties during project construction of the Chacao Channel Bridge on behalf of the client.

This is a contract role with an expected duration of 4 5 years.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Plans, organizes and directs daily operations for bridge construction inspection;
  • Carries out daily inspections of site activities;
  • Assigns, co-ordinates and reviews technical submissions;
  • Oversees the preparation of various reports;
  • Develops and mentors other construction service staff; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications and Skills Required

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, ideally on large scale bridge projects and progressively more senior experience in construction management and / or supervision
  • Proficient in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work with staff located remotely
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Experience working with international large bridge projects
  • Knowledge and experience in suspension bridge cable installation, concrete tower construction by jump forms and steel deck fabrication or general steel fabrication would be an asset
