    Job Description

    Mott MacDonald is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic CAD technician to create designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit for large-

    scale infrastructure and built environment projects across North America. You will be motivated by contributing to a dynamic, innovative work environment in a multi disciplinary consulting engineering firm.

    As BIM / CAD technician, you will be supporting ongoing structures, bridges, tunnels, rail, transit, infrastructure and buildings projects from the Vancouver office.

    You will be working with a team of professionals, applying standard techniques, procedures and criteria to develop and deploy models on infrastructure projects.

    A key part of this role is the development and application of emerging technology : you will be working with techniques such as computational design, reality capture to improve modeling systems and processes.

    Candidate Specification

    You will have experience in bridges, tunnel and infrastructure market segments and possess the following skills and experience :

  • Graduate of a recognized post-secondary educational institution with a diploma or degree or similar designation in architectural or civil engineering technology, and specialization in computer assisted design.
  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience designing using Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong background in Autodesk and / or Bentley tools and systems e.g. Civil 3D
  • Detailed knowledge of model-based design (BIM) protocols, standards, and software.
  • Strong understanding in developing, supporting, and managing models per project standards and requirements.
  • Experience with interoperability between multiple digital environments.
  • Previous experience collaborating with other designers in modeling workflows.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and prioritize tasks in a logical order, including the development of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).

  • Highly desirable experience includes engineering application experience, specifically in various infrastructure project types : Bridges, Tunnels, Earthworks, Drainage, Road Design, Rail, Structures, etc.
  • Proficient in additional Autodesk BIM Software : Navisworks, ReCap, and InfraWorks would be an asset.
  • Skilled in Bentley Software : MicroStation.
  • Well versed in Data Management Systems : Bentley ProjectWise, MS SharePoint, Autodesk BIM360
  • Excellent communicator (both oral and written) and skilled problem-solver with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount.
  • Positive can-do’ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments and demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships with clients and project teams.
