Scouts Canada is seeking a Program Support Manager to join our Scouting Experience team in Vancouver / Lower Mainland.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Program Support jointly accountable for managing the local Program Support team and implementing the Program Support strategy.
Key success measures will include volunteer and youth retention, engagement, event attendance and Section program quality through the Canadian Path Navigator.

Specifically, you will be responsible for :
Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation
Providing stakeholders with regular status updates regarding Program Support team activities.
Consulting with stakeholders to understand program and volunteer support requirements.
Coordinating with local Scouting Relationship Managers and Group Support Scouters to provide focused Section Support where required.
Build the Scouting Community
In collaboration with local Program Support Commissioners, ensure the Section Scouters have access to learning opportunities which with support and enhance their ability to deliver Scouting programs by Implementing the deployment of experiential learning workshops for Scouts Canada volunteers.
Recruitment, development and management of volunteer teams to manage oversight of local program support events and ensuring compliance to Scouts Canada Events standards.
Drive Outdoor Adventure
In collaboration with local Program Support Commissioners, ensure that Section Scouters and Scouting youth have access to learning opportunities which support and enhance outdoor skills and competencies.
Implementing and coordinating Outdoor Adventure Skills aligned third party certifications (e.g. First Aid, Paddling, etc).
Recruitment, development and management of the local Outdoor Skills network.
In collaboration with Program Support Commissioners, manage the deployment of a national team of Program Support Scouters who can provide enhanced coaching to Section Scouters to improve delivery of Scouts Canada’s program, The Canadian Path.
Implementation, management and continuous improvement of the local In-Section Support network.
Implement Program Support Scouter recruitment, orientation and ongoing development.
As a non-profit with a relatively small employee eam there will be occasions where other responsibilities or projects will be assigned.
Education, Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience in a volunteer management related role.
A passion for Scouts Canada’s Mission and in-depth knowledge of Scouts Canada’s policies, procedures, standards and program are essential.
Knowledge of Bylaw, Policies and Procedures, Scouting program, and Scouts Canada structure
Related post secondary education or combination of education and work experience.
In-depth knowledge in the following areas : Adult learning and development, Outdoor recreation and education and Event management
Works in a home-office environment
Travels up to 10,000 kilometres per year
Overnights - Approximately 20 per year
Travel conditions - Reasonable to occasionally difficult
Non-traditional working hours including evenings and weekends
Sitting for extended periods of time
PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) required
