Job Description and Responsibilities :
Produce detailed & accurate quotes for coating, metrology & risk mitigation of optics for aerospace & military programs, telescopes and similar large optics.
Write detailed production coating procedures including, but not limited to, unpacking / packing for shipment, loading / unloading, transport, cleaning, coating, metrology, data analysis, and engineering reports.
Model / analyze optical, mechanical and other coating requirements for manufacturability, performance in different environments, including space.
Write high quality engineering reports / presentations to be submitted to or presented to management and directly to customers.
to program, project and account managers for regular communications of status, inquiries, quotes, priority setting, etc.
Learn corresponding production coating capabilities and workflows to provide highly accurate quotes, which set cost standards, minimize cost over-runs, mitigates risks of production failures, rework, or schedule delays.
Assist with coating failure & research investigations as requested.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience :
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or higher education in Engineering or Physics. Prefer BS degree in Optical Engineering.
Requires at least 5 years of direct thin-film engineering experience. Prefer experience with electron-beam evaporation of metal and dielectric materials, design of metal mirrors and dielectric coatings, design of coat tooling, optical metrology, aerospace or military program contracts / orders, engineering report writing, quoting, and technical liaison to customers.
