As a Maintenance Worker in our City’s Roads section, you will be performing skilled manual work maintaining and repairing streets, boulevards and pedestrian passages.

In this position you will have a variety of daily tasks such as operating street sweepers and flail mowers, installing and inspecting street signs and asphalt, assisting in concrete finishing tasks, and operating single and tandem axle dump trucks.

You may also be called upon to maintain, clean, test and perform routine repairs on various pumps, valves, hydrants and related equipment and perform pipe laying on water, storm and sanitary sewers initially under the supervision of peers.

The ideal candidate will have :

  • Completion of grade 12
  • Considerable related work experience in Roads or similar
  • Possess sound knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in road maintenance
  • You will also have the ability to recognize and apply safe work procedures.
  • Candidates must hold a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License or equivalent. We will require you to have a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement by the end of probation / trial period.

    A CUPE hourly rate of $30.21, comprehensive benefits package, and an earned day off program is being offered.
