Utilize or build your skills working with patients in a hospital environment.
The volunteer will provide companionship, offer assistance with a variety of tasks and share activities with patients to improve quality of life.
Volunteer support is preferred between the hours of 12 and 3 : 00 p.m.
DUTIES AND PROCEDURES 1.Report to the nursing station when you arrive on the unit to begin your shift. 2.Ask if there is any information you should know about that may impact your work that day.
3.Visit patients who have been identified as those who would benefit from assistance and ask if you can provide support in any way.
4.Visits may involve any of the following . a.engaging the patient in conversation b.assist with organizing closets and clothes c.
assist with interpreting their bills and writing letters d.assist patient to select their daily menu e.accompany to the Gift Shop, Pharmacy, Cafeteria or outdoors f.
help with phone calls g.offer assistance with computers h.assist with activities and hobbies
Location : Chronic Assisted Ventilatory Care Unit
Time and Day : Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays 12 : 00 pm - 3 : 00 pm (maximum time frame - may be shorter in duration)
Additional Information :
Basic Introductory Training by Volunteer Resources; Program Specific Training by staff who work in the area.
