Scope of Position :
As the Team Lead, Academy, you are responsible for providing students and guests with a premium experience through the implementation of on hill program preparation and delivery.
You will assist the Manager in managing, scheduling and delivering training to Ski & Snowboard Instructors / Coaches.
Provide excellent customer service by conducting call backs and responding to emails in a timely fashion.
Track inventory of equipment, progress cards, class cards and distribute accordingly.
Assist with set up of lessons and help customers with check in process.
Act as first point of contact for Instructors.
Accurately keep track of Instructor shifts by timekeeping and managing instructor’s hours in a timely manner.
Coordinate all mountain trips for Academy Club Program off site.
Implement training and development to instructors.
Provide feedback to instructors / coaches throughout the season and act as a mentor / role model to the team.
Organize and assign classes to instructors for all assigned programs. Work with the Manager to ensure quality control in the delivery of all lessons.
Liaise with the Manager and Guest Services to provide consistent product delivery and premium guest experience. This includes indoor pre-
program preparation to facilitate quick, efficient organization of classes on the snow.
Maintain accurate documentation of programs, students and instructors.
Responsible for in-depth product knowledge and understanding of all Ski & Snowboard programs and Academy Club programs as well as all WinSport products, policies and procedures
Assist with enforcement of WinSport rules and regulations. Be especially vigilant in ensuring that all staff, hill users and other guests adheres to Duty of Care policies and the Alpine Responsibility Code
Act as an ambassador for the Academy and WinSport
Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one’s own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-
workers, direct reports and WinSport guests
Be mindful of all safety hazards / concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals
Review all OH & S notices / meeting minutes as they are distributed or posted on OH & S boards located within all departments
Ensure safety orientation is completed with all new or returning employees covering all the required safety hazards and specific safety training for specific areas
Other duties as required
1- 3 years of leadership experience in a related or other fields
3-5 years of working with youth and adult programs
Standard First Aid and CPR C .
Experience dealing with a large team made up of various cultures and demographics is considered an asset.
Strong Leadership skills are required
Must be CSIA, CASI, CSFA, Canada Snowboard or foreign equivalent certified and up to date.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Organization, multi tasking and prioritizing skills are essential
Demonstrate and apply leadership skills and excellent customer service
Previous conflict resolution experience is an asset
Strong decision making skills are essential.
Strong pedagogy and mentoring skills are essential
Good understanding of Ski / Snowboard industry is considered an asset.
Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as word, excel is an asset.
Physical Demands :
Seasonal, winter position
Dynamic working environment
Activities will concentrate primarily outdoors. Some indoor activities and preparation is required
Must act as an example and role model to all Academy instructors / coaches and other Canada Olympic Park team members
Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 20lb occasionally.
Be prepared to work in all weather conditions
