What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director, Transformation Initiatives will support the Director in driving transformational initiatives that impact Group Risk Management’s (GRM) Stress Testing and Credit Impairment (ST&CI) department.

The ST&CI department supports credit loss model development, Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR), Enterprise Wide Stress Testing (EWST), Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), Credit Measurement and Reporting (for IFRS 9 and CECL).

The incumbent will work with the Director, ST&CI team leads, subject matter experts (SMEs), project management office (PMO), and other function leads (e.

g. leads from Finance, IT, Corporate Treasury and other risk teams) to assess, develop and implement transformations to processes, models (methodologies) and infrastructure.

This includes participating in the design of processes and underlying key controls to create a robust control environment in the new target operating model.

What will you do?

  • Support the Director, Transformation Initiatives, in various tasks to assess, design and implement new models / methodology, measurement and reporting processes to meet new accounting, risk and regulatory requirements of relevant initiatives e.
  • g. Integrated Stress Testing Initiative (ISTI).

  • Support the Director, Transformation Initiatives, to design, document, program or code technical solutions e.g. create new calculation modules / engines
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders in PMO, SMEs and leads across functions (e.g. risk, finance, treasury, IT) to assess gaps, requirements and design new processes to achieve target operating model.
  • Facilitate ST&CI leads, SMEs and the Project Management Office to implement relevant regulatory, accounting, and risk requirements.
  • Facilitate drafting of model whitepapers and prepare analysis in support of model validation activities with Enterprise Model Risk Management (EMRM), and remediate outstanding model issues.
  • Provide analysis and status updates of initiatives to senior management
  • Assess and provide input in the identification, design and implementation of processes, internal controls and related governance roles and processes.
  • Problem solve or provide creative solutions that improve and simplify processes to increase RBC's competitive advantage, agility and / or robustness
  • What do you need to succeed?


  • 5+ years in knowledge, skill and background in various roles in Risk Management functions or roles with high level of quantitative analysis / measurement
  • University degree in business, math, engineering, computer science, or related discipline and / or MBA, CA / CPA, CFA and / or FRM, other graduate level quantitative finance education
  • Strong programming / coding and problem solving abilities. Strong understanding of model development, implementation, validation cycle.
  • Highly developed critical thinking and qualitative analytical skills with attention to detail. Ability to quickly grasp new concepts, especially concepts in risk management, finance and accounting (e.
  • g. IFRS 9, CECL). Ability to work through uncertainty or complex and ambiguous challenges.

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
