The team

The Performance and Capacity Management (PCM) group’s mandate is to provide insight and real-time monitoring of the application performance for our key Business Platforms with the goal of improving application performance and availability, preventing impacts, and reducing mean time to repair.

The role :

Reporting to the Senior Manager PCM, the Technical Performance & Capacity Management Specialist (Technical Specialist) contributes to the overall success of the Monitoring Team within PCM in Global Technology Services (GTS) and ensures application monitoring deployments are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.

The Technical Specialist ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • You can develop standard application-level Dashboards and Alerts within Dynatrace and integrate with Event Management systems.
  • You will implement Splunk data collection on application servers, and configures back-end systems to receive and process their logs.
  • You will be creating standard Dashboards and reporting for Splunk and integrate with Event Management systems.
  • You will provide guidance and expertise for a wide toolset to Application and System support personnel during incidents and outages.

  • You have the ability to interact with customers of multiple levels of technical expertise.
  • You want to lead project deliverables & post-project production support for assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.
  • You want to mentor and coach others within assigned area, transferring subject matter expertise to other IT practitioners where appropriate.
  • Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have at least 3 years of technical working experience in delivering Dynatrace (versions - managed or SaaS) or other Telemetry Solutions.
  • You have at least 3 years of technical working experience in delivering Splunk Enterprise or other log monitoring and data analysis solutions.
  • You also have at least 4+ years of technical working experience in monitoring and event management practices.
  • You have technical working exposure to most or all of the following Operating Systems : AIX / HP-UX / Solaris; Linux; Windows.
  • You have 5+ years of programming experience in scripting languages, including shell and Python.
  • You have the ability to interact with the customer to design / update / improve dashboards and custom reporting.
  • You have strong communication (verbal / written) and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, Networking Technology or related field.
