This position assists in processing, retrieval and / or distribution of warehouse goods and provides pick-up and / or delivery services to from donors or clients or customers through application of safe driving and material handling procedures.


  • Unload, sort, pack, store, load and / or bale donations ensuring integrity of donations are maintained
  • Sort donations for distribution based on established standards of quality and distinguishes between discarded and good quality merchandise according to policy
  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing donations
  • Comply with all safety procedures and ensures work area is kept clean and tidy according to guidelines / policy
  • May operate warehouse equipment as necessary
  • Pick up and Deliveries

  • Ensure safe and careful handling of all deliveries and pickups using an assigned Salvation Army (TSA) vehicle in a timely and secure manner
  • Maintain records of deliveries and pickups
  • Load and unload goods, including furniture and appliances, at designated facilities
  • Demonstrate a pleasant manner with the public
  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure the safety of TSA vehicles by performing pre trip inspections
  • Maintain TSA vehicle log, and report any problems
  • Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment
  • Clean and sanitize supplies and equipment used
  • Maintain knowledge of legislative and organization policies such as health and safety regulations / policies, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts


    Qualifications and Education requirements :

  • NOTE : For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation.
  • Education, Qualifications and Certifications :

  • High School Diploma
  • Current First Aid / CPR equivalent to St John’s Standard First Aid / Level A or C CPR (can be obtained upon hire)
  • Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Up to three months related experience including experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution
  • Up to one year safe driving experience
  • Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values
  • Skills and Capabilities :

  • Strong navigation skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to lift and load up to 50 pounds repetitively and use a pallet jack
  • Perform repetitive warehouse movements for several hours at a time (i.e. sorting donations)
  • Demonstrated safe driving practices
  • Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide :

  • Background check consent
  • Valid Criminal Record Check
  • Valid driver’s licenses and a clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online required Health and Safety training
  • Courteous demeanor

    DAYS and HOURS of work : Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9 : 30am to 5 : 30pm and Tuesday & Thursday 8am to 4pm (7.5 paid hours per day and ½ hour unpaid lunch break)
