The opportunity

The Analyst will be a key member of the Retirement Investment Product group supporting the Canadian Retirement business. The team is responsible for developing Manulife’s retirement platform, responding to the needs of large pension clients, and interacts with various distribution organizations.

A role integral to the success of the team and the organization, the successful candidate will report to the AVP, Retirement Platform Development.


  • Analysis of fund platform, investment strategies, and fund mapping
  • Provide analysis required for fund launches, mergers, and closures using industry tools and databases and collaborate across business and functional teams at all levels to support the success of the retirement platform ie.
  • Legal, Compliance, Operations, Tax

  • Respond to inquiries regarding the Manulife retirement platform
  • Respond to RFPs as required
  • Perform research and analysis on platform investments as well as competitor platforms on an ongoing basis to help maintain Manulife’s competitiveness in the marketplace
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and reporting as required

  • What we are looking for

  • 4 to 7 years of relevant investment experience preferably with Defined Contribution experience.
  • Progress towards or completion of CFA would be an asset
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Knowledge of the Canadian retirement marketplace
  • Customer obsessed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Morningstar Direct
  • Strong project management skills and data base management skills
  • Superior problem-solving skills and focus on attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritized multiple initiatives
  • Ability to understand advanced investment theories and products
  • Strong technical aptitude, analytical and research skills
  • Ability to understand and articulate investment concepts in an easily digestible manner
