The primary role of the Senior Tunnel Engineer is to facilitate project work within GHD’s Rail and Transportation business and to support other tunnelling projects across Canada and internationally.
Responsibilities : Clearly demonstrate leadership in developing and delivering projects, which maximize GHD’s involvement through utilization of multi-disciplinary teams, and enhances our client’s experience in working with GHDRespond to technical and administrative tasks associated with the development of Toronto Subway tunnels and stationsWork collaboratively with our Joint Venture team partners and our clientsPreparation of detailed design reports & construction reportingLiaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients and third party as neededPrepare the PSOS specificationsSoft ground tunnelling ancillaries including ground treatment, dewatering, & ground freezingPreparation of GBR’s, review of GDR and geotechnical investigation planning for tunnel and underground structuresCalculate tunnelling induced settlement including analysis of damages to the adjacent infrastructureQualification, Skill and Experience : Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical EngineeringMaster Degree in Tunnel / Geotechnical Engineering will be an assetChartered status is required P.
Eng.Confirmed experience in technical leadership and management of tunnel engineering and transportation or rail projects15 years’ experience with a minimum of 10 years in tunnel and underground projectsValidated capability in leading tunnel design & supervision teams for major interdisciplinary tunneling projectsExperience with multiple type of tunnel projects including bored and NATMExperience in design of large diameter tunnels in soft ground (6m +)Deep shaft & shoring designRail transit tunnel & station design experienceHands on experience with analytical and numerical analysis methods and perform tunnel, precast concrete segmental tunnel linings and shaft designLiaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients and third party as neededExceptional verbal and report writing skillsExcellent problem solving, decision making and team work skillsAssist GHD with project pursuits and proposal writingsReferences two, from clients or companies that the applicant has been engage within the past five yearsWe offer a professional working environment and culture and believe that work / life balance is essential to the success and happiness of our people.
