Job Description :

Reporting to the Manager of Business Systems, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, coordination, testing, delivery, tracking and evaluation of projects as assigned.

In addition, the incumbent will help with project management practices and standards internally for other project managers to use and provide them guidance and coaching as required.

The incumbent has or will develop a strong understanding of Opta internal processes, business needs and strategic direction.

This will include building strong working relationships with all managers, executives and internal and external stakeholders.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills is essential.

Key Responsibilities :

  • The incumbent will liaise with internal and external stakeholders as an integral part of performing his / her responsibilities.
  • Lead the planning, management, implementation and tracking of projects as assigned.
  • Maintain and evolve standard processes, templates and reporting requirements across the organization.
  • Support and help facilitate the prioritization of organization projects.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Define project tasks and in cooperation with IT Project Manager determine and manage resource requirements.
  • Develop appropriate project plans scaled in a fashion that is sensitive to project’s size, complexity and importance to the organization.
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff.
  • Manage project budget.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Provide direction and support to project team
  • Control project quality via quality tracking and intervention
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Support other company initiatives as required.

  • Education, knowledge and experience required :

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years successful work experience in a project management capacity.
  • Proven experience in : People management, Strategic planning, Risk management and Change management
  • PMP or similar designation.
  • Post-Secondary Certificate or Degree in project management or equivalent
  • Proficient in project management software
  • Written and oral fluency in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of property insurance and insurance principles preferred.
  • Written and oral fluency in French would be a strong bonus.
