The role is accountable for leading the overall direction of the Infrastructure Engineering and Cloud teams ensuring that Moneris has a robust, scalable, automated, reliable and efficient Infrastructure services offering that supports Moneris’ mission-critical business operations.

This includes building out the team / s to achieve a common vision, and empowering them to execute on it.

The individual will collaborate closely with other group leaders in Technology and corporate business to execute on large-scale projects, operationalize technologies, establishing technology roadmaps, and help set standards & processes.

You will be accountable to :

  • Create the overall direction for the design, engineering, automation, and build of infrastructure services on premise and in the public cloud.
  • Lead teams of Engineers responsible for multiple aspects of our shared Infrastructure Services, including Servers, Networks, Containers Platforms, Databases, and Public Cloud Services offerings supporting our mission-critical applications and Development teams
  • Establish, promote and enforce technology standards, roadmaps, and strategy across Technology Infrastructure and within Moneris where appropriate
  • Facilitate, continuously assess, identify inefficiencies, and anticipate core in-house developed mission-critical applications, transaction and payment processing systems infrastructure needs
  • Collaborate with senior management in setting and establishing IT strategies and technology road maps
  • Sponsor projects with business, architecture, development, and applications teams to design, engineer, deploy, and install infrastructure services, technologies and solutions
  • Responsible for building effective collaborative teams
  • Owns and maintain Infrastructure project and ongoing support budgets
  • Maintain relationships and negotiate with vendors and partners, plans and acquire infrastructure hardware and software, and manage operational costs
  • Your experience includes :

  • Bachelor's degree required; or equivalent work experience. Master's degree considered an asset
  • 12+ years of experience working in a leadership or architecture position
  • Deep understanding of modern Infrastructure technologies and software development practices including datacenters, networks, public cloud, infrastructure, containerization, CI / CD pipelines, databases, etc.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present technical perspective to senior management. You will need to explain your proposals for senior management to understand their value, are persuaded to invest in them and become champions of them for you
  • Able to both collaborate with and negotiate with peers inside and outside the Technology department
  • Highly proficient in engaging / influencing audiences, passion and ability to motivate others, building relationships, to achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Extensive experience with IT process, governance and IT frameworks
  • Extensive experience in managing budgets, maintaining vendor relationships, and negotiation
  • 5+ years of technical leadership position and people management.
  • Proficiency in payment systems and the merchant acquiring business is an asset.
