Position Overview :
Analytical and creative by intent, the Merchandising Manager, Accessories is responsible for the strategic product line planning and the seasonal execution of product creation.
This role is highly cross-functional and leverages in-depth knowledge of the Canada Goose consumers, competition, global market / industry trends, retail data and business acumen to provide category objectives and product direction to the Canada Goose marketing, design and development team.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and manage collections; silhouette / style / color plan, price point strategy, size strategy, delivery sequence, wholesale and suggested retail pricing strategies and gross pricing margin targets.
Drive cross function product creation to ensure we are hitting commercial and financial deliverables.
Work with other Merchandising Manager to ensure consistency and aligned seasonal goals and objectives.
Conduct, summarize and present key insights from in-depth research from the Outdoor and Fashion markets including overall trends and industry competitive analysis.
Lead the Product Brief process, in close collaboration with the Marketing and Strategy departments, in order to provide clear category strategy and design direction.
Partner with the Planning department to create and communicate seasonal assortments and market delivery schedules and ensure targeted sell-
through rates are exceeded in both Canada Goose’s wholesale and owned retail channels.
Optimize the appropriate style / SKU level to maximise production capacity restraints and minimize RM risks.
Acute awareness of current inventories to ensure that minimal SKU’s are carried into obsolesces and carryover styles are properly managed through the optimum product lifecycle.
Participates in functional discussions and initiatives across departments. Utilizes internal and / or external partnerships that leverage resources and enhance business group effectiveness.
Manages team and sets team and individual goals. Coaches staff, creates opportunities for staff development, and makes decisions or collaborates on hiring decisions, disciplinary actions, performance management, and recognition and rewards.
Resolves employee relations issues and supports diversity.
Education, Qualifications and Experience :
BA hons Degree or above in Fashion Design is an asset.
5-10 years of industry specific working experience within a merchandising role or design related position.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer Skill; included proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator is essential.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Excellent presentation skills of both design and final presentation.
Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.
Global understanding of the future markets and competitive brand positioning
Respect of Corporate deadlines and Calendar milestones
An excellent understanding of product construction.
Ability to work and lead a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.
