Centerra Gold is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Tailings Dam Engineer for their Mount Milligan Mine located in north central British Columbia.
Working a seven (7) day on seven (7) day off rotation at the mine site, the position reports to the Chief Mine Engineer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direction and guidance for construction scheduling, updating deposition modeling, updating water balance, as well as ensuring all QA / QC and geotechnical programs are maintained.
preparing and presenting project status reports; maintaining the working relationship with operations management needed to facilitate the coordination and execution of the (TSF) construction.
The Tailings Dam Engineer will work with the design consultants and Engineer of Record to ensure the TSF is constructed, scheduled and monitored according to the design specifications.
The Tailings Dam Engineer will work closely with the Mine Operations and Mine Technical Services teams to develop and execute short and long term construction plans and schedules.
They will also contribute technical expertise in tailings construction and operations for the existing operation and for studies of future development potential.
The Tailings Dam Engineer will also review and revise technical document for operations, including the Operations, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) manual and the Emergency Response and Preparedness Plan (ERPP), to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Tailings Dam Engineer also reviews technical reports from external consultants.
B.Sc. Engineering or equivalent in Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in mining with previous experience with or knowledge of tailings design, construction, operation, monitoring and management
Registered as a P.Eng. in British Columbia, or be able to become a registered member within one year
Experience with managing projects, including budgeting, preparing material take-off lists and costs management
Excellent computer skills, particularly with depositional and water balance modeling programs (GoldSim, Muk3D), spreadsheets, word processing and presentation applications.
Experience working with mine design and planning software (Minesight or equivalent).
Excellent communication and writing skills
Experience with mining and construction in northern climates would be considered an asset
