Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT (Specialty) - VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital

VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is currently recruiting experienced Registered Veterinary Technologists at our 24-hour Emergency & Specialty Referral Centre.

This role works closely with our emergency veterinarians and board certified specialists to provide emergency, critical care and referred specialist services.

This is a full time position (40 hrs / wk) in a fast paced, stimulating, world class medical environment that requires a personality that can deliver exceptional customer service and communication skills.

  • You will have opportunities to expand your learning through extensive exposure and involvement on various cases. Additional qualifications and attributes you must embrace to be successful in this role;
  • Registered Veterinary Technician or eligible to register
  • Perform clinical procedures; Venipuncture, Catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia monitoring and patient assessment
  • Surgical preparation, surgical assistance and patient recovery
  • Willing to enhance technical skills; anesthesia, CRI’s, epidurals and mechanical ventilators
  • Ability to thrive in a steady and often fast paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parents
  • Proven ability to keep accurate patient records
  • Strong ability to problem-solve
  • Specialties include Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, Rehabilitation. These positions work a compressed schedule that is typically four 10 hour shifts per week.

    The Specialty Surgery position includes an on-call rotation for emergency surgery. Our ideal candidate is looking to pursue their VTS credentials in their field of interest.
