Division Industrial East Business Unit Utilities Province / State Ontario ON City Various Title General Manager Position Overview Reporting to the Vice President / Director, the General Manager will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of designated regions. Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the financial performance of designated regions including the development of the annual business plan for each region and the ongoing management of financial performance to ensure business plans targets are being met
Accountable for strategic business development within designated region in order to pursue new lines of business and project opportunities with new and existing clients.
Provides leadership to ensure that bidding strategy is implemented to optimize revenue and margin to meet divisional targets
Provides direction regarding divisional and corporate Strategic Plan, ongoing strategy and policies
Accountable for the leadership, mentorship and development of team.
Prepares staff development and succession plans for key positions in the department
Establishes and maintains relationships with clients, subcontractors, unions
Ensures that all activity in the designated regions is consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies and procedures
Drives exceptional safety performance and culture within the business
Required Knowledge & Skills
10+ years' construction experience in the Utility Contracting Industry
Completion of an accredited post-secondary program with a focus on business, construction or engineering or equivalent industry experience
Demonstrate ability to evaluate employees and deployment of field resources on projects of various size and complexity as projects demand
Demonstrated ability to manage the operational and financial performance of a business unit
Strong business development capability
Project Management expertise
Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, public officials, team, peers and the general public
Demonstrated ability to use sound business judgment and proven leadership for people of all levels
Ability to plan, review, assign and evaluate the work of managers
