Academic Positions Marine Institute Instructors, Research and Technical Personnel Information for Prospective Employees DUTIES Student and Other Positions Reporting to the Director of the Offshore Safety and Survival Centre (OSSC) in Foxtrap, NL, the successful applicant will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the Safety Emergency Response Training (SERT) Centre located in Stephenville, NL.

The Manager of the SERT Centre will also have responsibility, in consultation with the OSSC Assistant Director (Programs), for the development and continuous improvement of associated programs and will have responsibility for the management of maintenance and certification for facilities, equipment and personnel.

  • Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, marketing and leading new initiatives; proposal development and contract management;
  • providing management and supervision of faculty and staff; providing management of operations budget. The Manager will work with the OSSC EHSQ Advisor to ensure conformance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations.

  • QUALIFICATIONS The successful applicant for this position must have a bachelor degree, preferably in Business, Emergency Services, or a related field;
  • an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered. Additionally, demonstrated experience in the management of an educational or training school;
  • an in depth knowledge of regulations applicable to firefighting, emergency response, industrial safety training and environmental incident response are required.

  • The successful candidate will have significant experience with quality management practices and safety management systems;
  • a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both inside and outside and organization; a strong commitment to customer service;
  • and demonstrated organizational, financial and human resources management capabilities.
