We are currently working with our client in search of a VP Finance . This exciting opportunity has opened up with a high growth technology company located in Calgary, Alberta.

The successful individual in this role will act as a partner and liaison to investors and will be responsible for the organization’s financial reporting, financial planning, analysis and internal controls.

An affinity for technology and the ability to drive operational effectiveness will be critical. The successful individual can work remotely from anywhere in Canada.

Key Responsibilities of this role will include

  • Working closely with the CEO, providing insight and counsel on financial and business issues relating to the overall performance of the business.
  • Develop and enhance the company’s financial foundation with appropriate systems and controls that will allow the company to grow effectively over the next several years.
  • Lead all company budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities.
  • Identify risks and opportunities from the financial perspective, making appropriate recommendations to support the continuing growth and success of the organization.
  • Oversee management of Audit and Compliance processes.
  • Continue to promote a culture of positivity with an entrepreneurial spirit, through the recruitment, coaching and retention of top quality individuals.
  • Qualifications and Experience required for this role include

  • Senior level experience as a VP Finance or Controller in a high growth company. Experience in a high tech company would be considered a strong asset.
  • Record of success managing teams and operations within organizations that have had significant growth.
  • Exceptional financial management expertise including financial reporting, negotiations, and problem solving.
  • Strong business acumen with working knowledge of sales strategy and sales operations, and an ability to think through the model, strategy and SAAS based unit metrics.
  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills needed to effectively share and engage the entire organization in the key financial drivers of the company.
  • Highly collaborative individual, comfortable as a hands-on leader, and able to represent the company with credibility both internally and externally.
  • A strong educational background which includes a CPA designation.

  • Experience preparing an organization for an IPO or strategic sale in the future would also be considered a strong asset.
