Status : Temporary Full Time (1) - 18 months

    Reporting to the Manager of Total Rewards, the Senior Compensation Advisor has primary responsibility to provide consultation to assigned business unit(s), HR Business Partners and other stakeholders for decisions related to all areas of compensation.

    This role directly manages and is responsible for the implementation, execution and continuous maintenance of the company’s compensation philosophy, practices and programs.

    The successful incumbent will be enthusiastic and exhibit thought leadership, negotiation skills, and superior analytical skills.

    A strong work ethic will ensure the Senior Compensation Advisor is an expert on delivering results. Also, a creative problem solver, the incumbent is highly skilled in understanding data and the marketplace.

    The Senior Compensation Advisor is an effective communicator, adept at both customer service and building effective relationships.


  • Develop, implement and support equitable and effective non-union and union compensation programs in compliance with legal requirements including, leading the annual market review including job matching, salary structure review and preparing reports to senior leaders on salary structure recommendations.
  • Builds compensation tools to support annual cyclical compensation programs including calculation files, best practices for audit, communication and executive summaries
  • Lead the job evaluation program including evaluating roles, organization design, process documentation, HR support and training, management training and developing tools and resources to efficiently manage the process.
  • Manage the annual management bonus program including, modelling approaches, analyzing costing and building implementation plans
  • Demonstrate ability to think critically to solve dynamic problems for client groups while working with partners across the business to find innovative solutions that best meet business needs
  • Work in partnership to support HR Business Partners and Business Managers on compensation issues; consult with and make recommendations to address specific compensation issues & questions and to ensure that compensation practices / programs are in support of the long-term objectives of the hospital
  • Maintains knowledge of the rewards structures in hospital sector
  • Align compensation programs and policies (including base pay, at risk and variable compensation programs, rewards / recognition programs, etc.
  • to meet business objectives

  • Measure the effectiveness of the total rewards programs and make recommendations to optimize and / or remove ineffective plans.
  • Designs and delivers training for various levels of the organization.
  • Develop and document supporting policies, processes and procedures.

  • Bachelor Degree in a related discipline and a certificate in Human Resources Management preferred
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in developing compensation programs and supporting policies that address all levels of employees (staff to executive leadership), required.
  • Certified Compensation Professional designation, preferred
  • Certified Human Resources Leader, preferred
  • Strong skills in job analysis, job evaluation and market analysis, required.
  • Hospital sector and unionized experience is an asset
  • Benefits experience is an asset
  • Effective written and oral communications (including presentation skills) that can translate highly-complex programs into straight-forward guidelines and program documents for all users to understand the key compliance-related issues, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills using both qualitative and quantitative data. Experience with relevant analytical tools, strong focus on spreadsheet applications, statistics and regression analysis, required.
  • Demonstrated competence in project management, analytical skills and decision-making tools. Possesses project management skills to bring cross-functional projects to completion, required.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate difficult and delicate matters to varying levels of employees and management.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills. Ability to influence client's actions and behaviors.

    Position Location and Travel : Travel among the 3 main sites of The Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre will be required
