What is the Opportunity?

We have multiple opportunities open for Data Scientists based on level of experience and specialization sub-domains.

As a Data Scientist specialized in a subdomain, you will analyze, design and implement data science solutions using RBC’s enterprise suite of analytics tools.

Leveraging leading edge technologies and capabilities, we apply a variety of domain specific machine learning and statistical modelling techniques (such as Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Optimization, Recommender Engine, Graph Theory, Cybersecurity and Explainability) to help RBC understand the changing business environment, discover new growth opportunities and determine where business improvements can be made.

What will you do?

  • Interact with RBC lines of businesses and deliver solutions spanning multiple areas (such as Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Optimization, Recommender Engine, Graph Theory, Cybersecurity and Explainability)
  • Prepare, parse and integrate large and varied structured and unstructured data sets to build statistical and machine learning models at scale.
  • Work with stake holders to validate and quantify accuracy and precision of analysis and the impact of it on the business
  • Work closely with other product team members and present findings to stakeholders clearly
  • Deploy solutions for end users and help drive change
  • What do you need to succeed?


  • BSc, Master or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics or similar fields. Ideal Candidates will have 2+ years of hands-on experience
  • Experience with machine learning and statistical techniques (e.g. naive bayes, decision trees, kmeans, SVMs) and testing / validation, visualizing data, test results and assess model performance
  • Experience with common machine learning and deep learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, Weka, Tensorflow, PyTorch etc.
  • writing and testing functional and error free code in at least 1 compiled language, and at least 1 other programming language (Python, Scala, etc.)

  • Familiarity with collaborative software development tools (git, issue tracking) and *nix environments
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis and present findings to stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) across peers and senior leaders
  • Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of design, development, and implementation experience utilizing data science technologies.
  • Experience deploying models into productions as Rest APIs, batch jobs or dashboards.
  • Experience implementing Service Oriented Architectures.
  • Passion for writing high-quality, maintainable and robust code.
  • Experience in various deep learning architectures specific to domains (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, AutoEncoders)
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (e.g. TensorBoard, Matplotlib)
