The Discount Financial Planning & Analysis group provides support to the largest division in the organization. Responsible for consolidating and analyzing periodic forecasts, period / quarter results, annual budget process and strategic financial planning, the team prepares periodic, quarterly and ad-
hoc analysis with focus on variances to expectations and partners with finance leads throughout the business. This is a dynamic role that requires multi-
tasking, comfort with changing priorities, and solid analytical and technical skills with focus on accuracy and details.
Lead, manage and support the financial budgeting process for Discount banners and Merchandising teams
Provide consolidated snapshots of budget iterations throughout a dynamic process
Manage and coordinate budget timelines amongst business units that support the Discount business
Support Senior Director with preparation and analysis of 3 Year Plan and annual Budget
Prepare presentation materials for senior management including Discount Leadership Team, Finance Leadership Team and Board of Directors
Liaise with business partners to understand business or reporting changes to anticipate accurate planning, forecasting and impacts on financials
Review and analyze business unit actual P&L results compared to budgets / forecasts and prior years
Manage the preparation and analysis of period and quarterly forecasts for QNF. This includes review and analyze business unity actual P&L results compared to budgets / forecasts and prior years and supporting explanations.
Ad-hoc analysis as required
Role Requirements :
Minimum of 5-7 years business experience within a retail finance environment
University degree in Finance or Accounting (accounting designation preferred)
Superior analytical skills with the ability to provide accurate business insights.
Strong technical skills (ie. excel, powerpoint) including experience financial modeling. Working knowledge of SAP, Loblaw legacy mainframe, Hyperion and Microsoft SQL server is an asset
Solid time management skills and ability to work in high-pressure environment. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
Project management skills with ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, tools) to complete objectives effectively and efficiently
Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with people at various levels of an organization
Enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced changing work environment.
