Contract, full-time Job Description :
Our private sector client is currently sourcing for a Network Operations Analyst to perform the following duties :
Operations, administration, maintenance, provisioning (OAM&P) and troubleshooting of all network infrastructure (Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Wireless Network (local and broadband));
Daily operations may include :
second and third level support activities related to network infrastructure; escalation, support procedures, regular updates including emails and meetings.;
Administration work may include :
passwords management, equipment and tools access, organizational forms and timesheets, meetings minutes and agendas, and reports;
Maintenance work may include :
configuration and hardware changes, scheduling provider maintenance in line with maintenance schedule, standard network equipment configuration changes as a result of policy or design, routine equipment checks, hardware changes and software / firmware upgrades.
Execution of service management requests (problem, change, configuration and asset management) related to network infrastructure;
The proposed resource must be willing to develop complementary skill sets should operational needs arise.
A keen interest in Network Administration and learning new technologies and skill sets to build upon experience
Experience with network topology and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of TCP / IP, routing / switches, network security, firewalls, network traffic analysis, VPN, etc.
Knowledge of network vulnerabilities and security issues
CCNA or CCNP designation
Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to work flexible hours
Mandatory Qualifications :
Minimum of five (5) years of experience where LAN / WAN network design, engineering and / or operations was the resource’s primary role.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in providing technical support in enterprise network environment (LAN / WAN / Voice / Wireless).
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and administer local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Wireless networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment
Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, operating system software and software applications
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks and to co-ordinate access and use of computer networks
Provide problem-solving services to network users
Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls
Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting tasks
