The apprentice will be working with experienced tool and die staff to learn the skills of the trade. The approach is hands-on through the assignment of a variety of tasks designed to cover all basic aspects of the trade.


  • Work with diemakers to learn the tool and die trade.
  • Fabricate and assemble new tooling within the quoted hours and due date.
  • Disassemble and assemble all types of dies and perform all types of revisions and upgrades on all tooling.
  • Changeover all types of die parts in tooling to run different parts.
  • Become proficient in the operation of all machine tools necessary to accomplish work needed to repair, build and complete major revisions to tooling.
  • Handle dies with hoists, die trucks and power-assisted trucks.
  • Students will attend school on their own time, while working full time. Depending on curriculum students will take 1-2 classes per semester.
  • They must attend and pass the required courses.

  • Comply with all safety procedures as required by the Health & Safety Act and / or Company practices or procedures including but not limited to the wearing of all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as specified by the Act or designated by the Company.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (please attach copy with application)
  • Proven ability to learn and retain knowledge of the use of machines and instruments
  • Good manual dexterity and detail oriented
  • Self-motivated; must demonstrate a positive attitude
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be team oriented and possess good communication skills
  • Excellent safety, attendance and performance record
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work all three shifts (Midnights, Days, Afternoons)
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend for long periods of time
  • Ability to work from heights
  • Ability to perform repetitive duties especially hand, finger, wrist and arm
  • Perform heavy manual labor.
