The strategic components that are required to build and manage our Owned National brands are an essential part of differentiating Canadian Tire as a retailer in the Canadian marketplace and beyond.

What You'll Do

The Consumer Brands Division was established to create brands that consumers covet and stay loyal to over time.We plan to develop (create, grow, acquire) and nurture a portfolio of strong brands that can drive accelerated growth for Canadian Tire Corporation.

The Brand Manager role within the Style, Home & Cooking team plays an integral part in delivering the vision of the Consumer Brand’s Division , and drive incremental growth for the company.

  • You will be responsible for building brand equity; strengthening and / or building the path to deliver long-term sustainable business performance;
  • developing and executing multi-year and annual Brand plans; and collaborating with, and leading cross-functional teams to launch new product innovation and enable strong brand communications and support.

    Key responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Strategic Brand Planning : Develop long-term and annual brand and marketing strategies in partnership with cross functional teams through deep knowledge and development of market, customer and category insights, analysis of key challenges and opportunities, identification of key strategies, priorities and tactics and associated financials to deliver overall business and brand health objectives.
  • Development and / or adaptation of brand foundations will be an important component of Strategic Brand Building.

  • Business / Financial Management : Leverage knowledge of the business and processes to make informed recommendations that maximize brand and financial health.
  • Innovation : Proactively identify, develop, prioritize and execute effective product and packaging innovation to drive consumer, customer and channel growth opportunities.
  • Build Brand Equity and Support Long-term Financial Performance : Partner with key cross-functional teams on the brand communications strategy and initiatives to ensure high quality, effective communications.
  • Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders in order to effectively gain alignment, support and create excitement to drive key brand initiatives.
  • This includes both internal and external partners and agency stakeholders.

  • On select brands, work in partnership with the International team to develop Global Brand framework and guidelines, support the definition of global expansion opportunities, and validation of trademark extension to global markets.

    What you bring

  • 7+ years brand management experience, ideally from a consumer packaged goods company, mass retailer or financial services institution
  • 3+ years in a leadership position
  • Post-secondary education in business or a related field
  • Solid project management experience, with the ability to lead multiple cross-functional projects
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, including the ability to comfortably and effectively convey information speaking in front of groups
  • Proven analytical thinker and problem solver
