Position Summary

We are now accepting applications for the role of full-time Chef / Food Services Manager. The successful candidate will be willing to adapt throughout the developmental stages of this new start-

up facility. This means, we need your creativity, flexibility, collaboration and passion to help develop and deliver high quality, client-centered care.

Hours of work :

This is a full-time position with the ability to work varied hours Monday through Friday

What you'll be doing

The Chef / Food Services Manager is responsible for the overall food production, preparation, presentation and service delivery of all food services.

The Chef establishes menu specifications, plate presentation, and creates visual food displays. This position works to control food quality, food cost, labour, and wastage and is also responsible to ensure proper standards of food preparation, rotation and storage.

  • Directly responsible for the operation of all kitchen areas in regards to guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and health & safety.
  • Plan, direct, and implement the delivery of meals for patients, staff, and visitors including tray service, dining room service, BBQ’s, special events, cafeteria, and vending.
  • Responsible for menu planning and execution of food quality and cost control measures (create, plan, and costs menus and recipes).
  • Collaboration & consultation with clinical staff, which includes a clinical dietician, and clients to determine optimal & required dietetics for development of customized meal program.
  • Develop menus for all food operations ensuring that they are created using guest feedback, industry trends, competitive intelligence and seasonal offerings while ensuring all service standards are met.
  • Menus are to be changed frequently to ensure relevance.

  • Ensure that all kitchen operations are compliant with legislated food safety regulations as well food & beverage service standards.
  • Responsible for the departmental operating budget including achieving established financial and budgetary goals for the kitchen (food costs, labour costs, waste etc.).
  • Responsible for managing food cost by overseeing ordering, inventories and food controls for the entire facility.
  • Develop a high quality team by effectively recruiting, training, coaching performance, and motivating employees in an effort to ensure high levels of quality and client satisfaction.
  • Managing staff scheduling and labor.
  • What we're looking for

  • A degree or diploma recognized in the hospitality industry or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Professional culinary diploma (Red Seal Chef Status) is an asset
  • Valid Level II Food Safe certification
  • 3 years of recent related experience managing in a high volume food service environment
  • Experience with budgeting and human resource management
  • Experience with Joint Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Control and Quality Management in a food service environment
  • Nutrition & dietetics background or certifications would be an asset
  • Experience in a specialized setting with knowledge of addictions or mental health would be an asset
  • Strong leadership skills, able to communicate and interact with diverse individuals, build trust and develop rapport
