The Poly Technical Communication Group is seeking a full-time technical writer who will be responsible for planning and creating technical product and solution documentation.

  • This documentation must effectively communicate conceptual, reference, and procedural system information for the Poly video and voice conferencing management solutions and products;
  • specifically, deployment, integration, configuration, administration, installation, and upgrade information.

    What You’ll Do :

  • Work with a cross-functional team of local and remote subject matter experts (system and sales engineers; product, QA and support engineers;
  • program and product managers; writers) to plan, write, and edit topical information while meeting project requirements and schedules.

  • Conform to document creation and control processes and established quality and style standards.
  • Work with standard templates to ensure documentation is Poly-branded, compliant, approved, and released.
  • Coordinate with manager on assigned documentation projects.
  • Job requirements :

  • BA / BS or MA in Technical Communications or related field.
  • Two to five years of experience writing technical information such as telecommunications, hardware, software, and networking documentation.
  • For less than 2 years of experience, appropriate coursework and related work may be substituted.

  • Evidence of good interpersonal skills, strong teamwork mentality, and professional energy and excellence.
  • Displays ability to be self-directed with a growing skill set and intensity that allows for execution of the job functions with clearly defined specifications and with moderate direction and oversight.
  • Demonstrates good judgment on routine matters and explores appropriate methods for problem solving.
  • Proficient at using standard technical writing tools (such as Adobe FrameMaker and Acrobat) and standard office tools (MS Office based).
  • Must provide sample work. May be asked to complete an editing test.
  • We’d love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Experience creating system, administrator, and end user documentation.
  • Experience creating topic-based information for single-sourcing and repurposing.
  • Experience with structured authoring and DITA / XML and / or transitioning to structured authoring and DITA / XML.
  • Experience and / or knowledge of TCP / IP, VOIP, or Networking.
  • Ability to take screenshots and modify graphics for use within documentation.
