Job Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Division of Clinical Microbiology of the Saskatchewan Health Authority / University of Saskatchewan seeks a permanent full time Clinical Microbiologist.

Clinical Microbiology is a fully centralized service providing diagnostic testing in bacteriology, virology, mycology, mycobacteriology and parasitology and has a comprehensive molecular diagnostics program, 2 MALDI-TOF instruments and front end automation.

The clinical microbiology laboratory serves Saskatoon’s 3 acute care hospitals, Long Term Care and community based physicians with daily specimen volumes ranging from 1000-1400 and COVID 19 specimen volumes up to 500 / day.

Additionally, Saskatoon provides reference testing and clinical microbiology consultation for laboratories in rural Saskatchewan including site visits.

The successful applicant would join a team of 3 other Clinical / Medical Microbiologists in setting clinical direction and oversight for the program along with on call service and clinical consultation.

The successful candidate would also be a member of the Provincial Microbiology Group which works as a discipline specific group setting directions and standards for Clinical Microbiology in Saskatchewan.

Job Qualifications

The successful Ph.D. candidate will have completed post-doctoral residency training in clinical microbiology with fellowship certification through the Canadian College of Microbiology and / or the American Board for Medical Microbiology (or eligibility for certification within 3 years).

Membership with the Practitioner Staff is required.
