This position is for MSM, a division of Magna Powertrain.

Provide leadership and project control from initial concept design and feasibility assessment through to start of production.
Direct designers, engineers and is responsible for reviewing all drawing information.
Manage prototype builds to assure that product design, manufacturing, assembly and other problems are detected at the earliest stages of the product development cycle.
Participate in GPMS meetings to ensure that commitments made to customers are properly addressed and fulfilled through use of APQP processes and TS 16949, including verification that all customer approvals are obtained.
Plan, co-ordinate, lead, and participate with various multi-disciplined teams addressing objectives associated with the manufacturing and assembly process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap and rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitments.
Support the completion of all RFQ’s on a timely basis while meeting the customer’s requirements.
Define specification, the statement of work, and procurement of various quotations for approval.
Lead quotations for new business.
Develop,maintain and execute implementation plans for new equipment.
Manage activities related to prototype part delivery, and ensure PPAP commitments are met as promised / expected by the customer.
Perform supervisory control over assigned personnel.
Provide engineering support to other departments within the Company as directed by the Engineering Manager.
Initiate plans and ideas for cost reduction and / or quality improvement measures.
Maintain proper filing system (including electronic / computer files) to ensure all information is properly stored and easily retrieved.
Travel outside the city / country will be required. Work off-site at a customer location for varying periods of time may be required.
Meet APQP requirements for assigned scope of projects
Develop and or maintain documentation and actions to include but not limited to :
o Quality initiatives such as TS16949, Q1, and ISO14001
APQP process (DFMEA, PFMEA, DFA, DFM, VE / VA, SPC), Continuous Improvement activities, OEE activities and supports / complies with company GPMS requirements
oRework, Scrap, Waste, House cleaning initiatives to reduce cost
oInitiate contact with new suppliers and subcontractors.
Perform other assignments from time to time as management so directs.
Comply and participate in monthly Health & Safety quiz.
Comply and participate with suggestions and Continuous Improvement Program at MSM.
Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
Knowledge and Education
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years direct applicable experience in the management and leadership of technical projects from conception to successful implementation.
General powertrain, or specific automotive transmission product design experience an asset.
Proficient with CAD (Pref. SolidWorks and DraftSight). Must possess sound knowledge and ability to use various PC based computer applications.
Knowledge of CNC machining, metal forming and joining an asset.
Must be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English and possesses strong presentation, interpersonal and negotiating skills
Must have good organizational skills, be a self-starter, team player and an active listener.
