On Aviva’s Reserving team, we have two main areas of focus : 1) the accurate valuation of policy liabilities, 2) the actuarial insights that support business decisions and financial reporting.

As part of the team, you will take responsibility over one of Aviva’s Reserving classes, where you will develop specialist knowledge in that line of business and have the opportunity to learn and apply actuarial projection techniques.

You will be involved in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, an opportunity to apply you strong data management and technical proficiencies while developing your knowledge of P&C accounting and regulations.

You will also collaborate with our business partners to support their understanding in claims development and the latest loss trends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reconciles data used in reserving analyses.
  • Analyzes the adequacy of the company's claim reserve levels by application of standard actuarial techniques.
  • Maintain and develop programs that apply appropriate actuarial techniques to relevant data.
  • Produce monitoring reports for analyzing claims experience.
  • Prepare the supporting documents required for the quarterly Reserving Committee meeting and annual Appointed Actuary reports.
  • Support the finance department in the monthly journals booking and reporting process.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 2 CAS exams
  • Strong mathematical and statistical background;
  • Proficient in Excel, with experience in SAS and VBA a plus;
  • Strong team player;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Prior actuarial experience an asset
