This role sits within LBC Tech, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank Financial Group.

  • Reporting to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Warehouse, the incumbent is responsible for the analysis, development, testing and maintenance of the core Business Intelligence components of the bank's Enterprise Data Warehouse, in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including but not limited to;
  • ad-hoc reports, data extracts, and analytic cubes. He or she will also participate in the development and implementation of BI solutions needed for marketing campaigns and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

  • The current core BI components are based in IBM technology, and include IBM Cognos, IBM Data Manager and IBM Campaign Manager, but additional technologies may be incorporated in the future, including, but not limited to;
  • MicroStrategy or other OLAP solutions.

    Responsibilities

    ºConsult with internal business stakeholders to document BI requirements

    ºReview requests for BI solutions as required (including Reports, Data Extracts, Analytic Cubes, and Dashboards) and assist the BICC Team Lead in estimating the work effort needed for development, testing and deployment of BI solutions.

  • ºComplete the development, testing and deployment of BI solutions, as assigned by the BICC Team Lead, including, but not limited to;
  • oAnalyse source data and document the requirements for the requested BI solutions, including any data transformation methodologies as needed

    oPrepare the functional specifications of the various developments and validate the results in cooperation with teammates and users.

    oDevelop and maintain any additional required documentation and reference structures (including business rules, best practices, methodologies, etc.

    for all BI products for which the business unit is responsible.

    oCreate multi-dimensional data sets from the source data to be used in the creation of required BI products.

    oDevelop and test the BI solutions as defined.

    oSupport the implementation of the BI solution in production.

    ºParticipate in the design and development of BI solutions for corporate initiatives, where required.

    ºEvaluate the data quality and accuracy of the BI products with internal stakeholders.

    ºProvide data analysis to support the development of predictive models and relationship marketing campaigns and to help orient strategic decisions, the Bank's positioning, and program development.

    ºParticipate actively in deployment, post-implementation monitoring and development of all BI products and related projects.

    ºEnsure rigorous monitoring of development activities and solutions to ensure compliance with set deadlines and budgets.

    ºHelp support BI production activities when required.

    ºEstablish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders and partners of the team and business lines.

    ºKeep updated on all existing and future Enterprise Data Warehouse structures, end-to-end processes and core technologies.

    ºPerform all tasks of a similar or general nature requested by his or her superior or required for the job.

    Qualifications

    ºUniversity degree or diploma (or certification) in computer science, business intelligence, or related field, with at least 6-8yrs of work experience.

    ºAt least 4 + years related experience in a similar role as a BI or OLAP Analyst / Developer

    ºStrong knowledge, skills and experience working on large scale EDW / BI projects and / or operational teams, within Oracle and / or SQL Server database environments.

    ºStrong knowledge, skills and experience with SQL, and writing SQL queries.

    ºStrong knowledge, skills and experience as an OLAP Developer, creating analytic cubes, reports and dashboards with IBM Cognos.

    ºDemonstrated knowledge, skills and experience working with business stakeholders to assess BI needs.

    ºDemonstrated knowledge, skills and experience documenting BI functional and technical requirements.

    ºDemonstrated knowledge, skills and experience working with complex data sets, and performing data analysis.

    ºDynamic, autonomous / resourceful and focused on results.

    ºFocused on teamwork and collaboration.

    ºBilingual (French / English) verbal and written communication skills are assets.

    ºKnowledge and experience working with Data Profiling tools would be an asset.

    ºKnowledge and experience with SAS, and predictive modelling tools would be an asset.

    ºKnowledge of the banking industry would be an asset.
