The Regional Director, Security oversees the protection ofpersonnel, operations and assets in Western Africa with a specific focus onsecurity intelligence, crisis management, exploration sites security,residential security and travel risk programs.
He / she identifies threats,analyses risks, plans and monitors the implementation of mitigation measures inthe region. He / she leads a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team, providesexpertise and support to operations and liaises with corporate security andcrisis management organizations.
The incumbent ensures continuity in theabsence of the Essakane Site Security Manager.
Your Responsibilities :
Key Area : Manage the security, investigations and crisismanagement disciplines within the region :
Develop and update country threat and riskanalysis registers
Lead early identification and develop strategiesto mitigate regional security threats in the West Africa region and around companyassets - Participate in the definition of the security strategy
Manage the regional exploration security programwithin the region
Coordinate residential, offices’ andexpatriates’ security programs, maintain evacuation plans
Manage the regional travel risk managementprogram (visitors, employees, VIPs, etc.)
Plan and coordinate intelligence gatheringactivities within the region. Develop a varied network and draw factualanalyses and actions to be taken
Inform and advise the management team and thefunctional security chain on the security situation, threats, risks andvulnerabilities that may have an impact on the conduct of business
Build and update risk mitigation action plans,supervises and supports the implementation of projects and report on progress
As the Crisis Management Coordinator foroperations in West Africa, ensure crisis preparedness, proper crisis managementand continuity within incident response teams and security departments
Monitor incident response and manage crisiscoordination during absences of Essakane Site Security Manager
Maintain communication with governmentrepresentatives, law enforcement, security forces, embassies, and othercompanies
Participate in the security design and theprotection of the company’s new projects
Organize and participate in audits, qualityassurance missions and major security investigations
Coordinate training and security risk awarenesssessions
Key Area : Supervise the administration of regional securityservices :
Lead a multidisciplinary and multi-culturalteam, promote initiative, responsibility, teamwork and respect for each other
Manage resources (personnel, budget, assets)within the regional security department including dedicated explorationsecurity teams
Actively participate in the development andimplementation of National succession plan within the department
Review staffing requirements, participate in therecruitment, provide employees with clear work objectives, development plansand conduct performance reviews
Chair regular regional security committeemeetings and follow through on action items
Promote and ensure responsible and effectivepractices within security departments, including governance, resourcemanagement, integrity, respect of IAMGOLD general and security policies,regulations and human rights.
Investigate and report possible violations
Ensure equipment, vehicles and security systemsare operational in the area of responsibility (exploration, offices,residences)
Participate in the choice and evaluation ofsecurity and investigations providers and consultants
Promote and ensure the application of VoluntaryPrinciples on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) within all security activities
What we look for :
Tertiary Qualification in Security and Crisis Management or equivalent working experience
Minimum 10 years of related field experience including high risk countries
Ability to analyse risks, understand industrial activities, devise strategies and tactics
Experienced in working with business executives, political and security authorities
Experience in solving complex problems using method and a pragmatic approach
Experience with security technology
Ability to manage activities, budgets and resources
