There are ten MCC Thrift Shops in BC and they are a vital part of our ministry. The Thrift Shops sell donated clothing, books, furniture and other items in order to raise income for the ministry of MCC BC.
The shop is a ministry in and of itself, providing low cost goods to people in our community as well as providing international and local aid.
Thrift Shops also make a valuable contribution to good stewardship and a healthy environment by recycling items that might otherwise be thrown away.
They also provide a sense of community to volunteers and the people we serve through social interaction in a caring environment.
The Customer Service and Merchandiser at the MCC Fort St. John Thrift Shop will provide support to the shop with donation processing, retail operations, customer service and merchandising.
The position provides practical, and hands-on experience that would be an asset to anyone working towards a business-related course of study, someone considering a career in social services, or a student studying not-for-profit management.
This is a full-time position (40 hours / week) for up to a possible 16 weeks, requiring flexibility to work on Saturdays.
This position is subject to government funding under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. All participants need to be 15 to 30 years old, and be Canadian citizens / Canadian permanent residents or hold Canadian refugee protection status in country.
