As the Senior Manager, Merchandising you will support in the creation and execution of strategies to drive sustained sales growth across various categories.

By providing for and exceeding customer needs through trend-right product and compelling store experience, the Senior Manager, Merchandising will lead their team to consistently achieve and exceed financial objectives.

Specifically, the SMM and their Planning partner are jointly accountable for the achievement of sales volume, gross margin and inventory productivity targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise of the needs, wants and expectations of the customer, with a comprehensive understanding of the category, the market and competitors
  • Define seasonal, annual and multi-year strategies that identify future opportunities and trends and produce competitive advantage & superior results
  • Defines and directs technological innovations, style and price to support customer strategy
  • Participate in initiating and maintaining core / strategic relationships with significant vendors, with a focus on introducing new, innovative products
  • Active in the development and in-season forecasting of merchandise financial and key item plans and supports the overall process
  • Evaluates category performance weekly, guiding category teams on corrective action and feedback to VP Merchandising and Executive Team
  • Communicates strategy and product priorities to Marketing / Visual Merchandising teams
  • Assist in the development of space plans, adjacencies design, post-mortem reviews, etc.
  • Approve content of the buy, ensuring CSMs create compelling product assortments that realize the merchandise strategy and vision
  • Act as a change leader to support company initiatives and ensure adoption by the merchandising team.
  • Key Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on retail merchandising strategy and leadership
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing or a related discipline
  • Previous Buying experience with a retail environment is required
  • Fundamental understanding of Consumer Electronics and accounting / finance
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, exceed given targets and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, dynamic setting
  • Familiarity with product regulatory standards and advertising legislation / guidelines
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and time management skills
  • Advanced computer skills; comfortable with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
