We are seeking a full-time temporary Settlement Reconciliation Administrator to join our team until April 2020.
The Settlement Reconciliation Administrator completes general ledger reconciliations ensuring that the credit union are in compliance with the financial control framework and problem solves issues that affect reconciliations
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day :
Accounting : Prepares banking system general ledger reconciliations within established deadlines, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, completeness and quality of financial information that supports the production of accurate financial statements;
carries out daily operational accounting duties, including time-sensitive tasks; and investigates accounting variances, providing adequate support and documentation for the review.
Processes and Procedures : Responds to banking settlement inquiries; supports branch and shared services staff with regards to processes affecting the reconciliation / settlement.
Updates and communicates processes and procedures as related to settlement required.
Reconciliation Support : Communicates with stakeholders in the branches, operations and other back office teams on processes that have affected reconciliations, troubleshoots issues, makes recommendations and requests adjustments when required.
Collaborates with team members to ensure that reconciliations are prepared in accordance with accounting policies and procedures, escalates large variances or variances outstanding outside of tolerance levels.
Compliance / Internal Controls : Ensures reconciliations are prepared in accordance with policy and procedures and follows up on any corrections to banking system entries in a timely manner.
Collaborates with branches and shared services staff to ensure banking system entries are prepared and reviewed in accordance with policies and procedures and to ensure that internal control procedures are in operation and adhered to;
performs, reviews and updates internal controls as required.
Continuous improvement : Makes recommendations for compliance process changes and / or improvements; and participates in any change management process related to accounting or system changes.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications :
High School Diploma
1 year of experience related to banking, administration or accounting
Solid understanding of banking system settlement
Working knowledge of banking systems
Proficient with computer software applications e.g. MS Office, with superior skills in Excel
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to perform tasks with little or no supervision within time-sensitive deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
