Position Summary :

In a key leadership role, the Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in the day to day operating activities, including revenue / sales growth and financial management as directed by the Branch Manager.

You will be responsible for leading and managing several crews during summer, contributing in a management role for various handy man projects, and taking a hands on approach during the winter.

All objectives are to be in alignment with Gelderman Landscape Services core values, key performance targets and policies.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to :

Branch Assistant Management :

  • Maintains branch morale, works on employee development, motivation, and retention
  • Directs branch’s internal operations to achieve budgeted results and other financial criteria
  • In collaboration with the Branch Manager, provides input and support in the branch’s short / long term planning and budget levels to support strategic business objectives
  • Implements the procedures, systems, polices and controls to promote communication and service
  • Train and manage all reporting staff within the framework of company policies and procedures
  • Participates in the development and execution of the branch’s sales strategy and seeks enhancement opportunities
  • Share knowledge with other branches and head office on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities and needs
  • Fosters a customer-centric environment where caring and responsive service is paramount
  • Ensures all Fleet & Equipment preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to and ensuring expenditures are in line with budget and targets
  • Client Relations Management :

  • Performs site visits with property managers or board member
  • Proactively communicates with client / customer upcoming services and changes in regular service schedule
  • Communicates with property managers, home owners and subcontractors
  • Meets or exceeds profit goals for each project
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate handy man & small enhancement quotations
  • Create & execute projects and be able to revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Effectively apply the Gelderman Way and enforce company protocols
  • Ensure required documentation is complete
  • Build existing client relationships and generate new business with property managers
  • Financial Management :

  • Assist in developing divisional budgets with the Branch Manager and VP and operate within them
  • Reviews weekly and monthly Contracts to ensure desired Gross Margin. Assures adequate margins are maintained to achieve profitability standards.
  • Reviews daily & weekly hours reports to ensure actual hours are following Bell Curve
  • To ensure pricing and estimating is accurate
  • Manages accounts receivable collections within the division
  • Present monthly financials to senior management
  • Safety :

  • Oversee enforcement of Company policies in regard to health and safety and operating procedures
  • Communicate workplace hazards and control procedures to workers
  • Take reasonable precautions to ensure safety of workers
  • Actively support and participate in the health and safety program
  • Performing workplace inspections and information sessions
  • Participating in accident investigations, correcting substandard acts or conditions
  • Provides on-site training in job duties, equipment operation and company policies and procedures to maximize efficiencies and productivity ensuring staff are properly signed off prior to operating equipment
  • Qualifications : Technical skills / job knowledge :

  • 5+ years of experience assisting in the management of Division or Branch of $3 Million in revenue or more within the service industry
  • Strong background and knowledge of strategic account management, sales process and product selling
  • The ability to influence and negotiate by aligning insights to key customer priorities
  • Must exhibit excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Encompasses strong interpersonal, planning, analytical skills and business acumen for effective decision making
  • Ability to make business decisions and think in broad terms
  • Strong research and analysis skills; negotiation, cold-call and prospecting skills, as well as collaboration and project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of business software; Microsoft Office.
