The Data Center Analyst is responsible for providing scalable resources to support the client’s data centres operations and Bell Customers’ ad hoc, scheduled and emergency requests.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Investigates physical cabling connections or connectivity specific to physical / data link layers per connection, cable, or interface on supported systems
Tactical installation of additional patch cables, or removal of patch cables (of any kind) in support of related deployment activity on supported systems.
Replaces copper patch cable, fiber patch cable, power cord, or any similar cables attached to supported systems.
Removal of device cross-connects and related infrastructure / patches
Asset handling processes and applicable shipment or removal of large devices, assets, or infrastructure components
Replaces 1RU or 2RU devices or internal expansion cards, memory riser boards, chassis specific components, or other peripherals
Replaces 3RU devices or larger
Changes or applications of physical labeling on supported systems and / or cables
Task capturing general efforts to retrieve, catalog, update, validate, inspect, or otherwise manipulate or report detail about physical devices, or qualities within production datacenter colocation environment.
Replaces of power supply components in client / bell customer cabinets.
Receipt processing for spare parts, upgrade components or other small hardware / device.
Receipt processing for large devices, assets or infrastructure components.
Restart (hard or soft reboot) of client or bell customer systems for incident / investigation activity.
Physical removal of a 1RU or 2RU device from a cabinet / rack.
Physical removal of a 3RU or larger device from a cabinet / rack.
Efforts for walking through the dc colos, cataloging or recording observed failures on supported systems and violations to established dc work rules
Performance of the visual inspection and data gathering from physical power equipment (RPDU, PIU, busway metering, FPDU breakers, etc.) on the dc floor.
General efforts to retrieve, catalog, update, validate, inspect, or otherwise report detail about physical devices, infrastructure, environments or qualities within production datacenter colocations.
Work to audit and document power occupancy and device cable connection(s) in a single cabinet
Effort to escort 3rd party technicians performing work in client / bell customer cages or open colo spaces.
Effort for tapes swapped in supported backup systems.
Effort of counting available scratch tape media for supported backup systems.
The time and effort for creating, reading, updating and closing help desk system tickets, as required, for client / bell customer support.
Replaces internal host bus adapter / fiber channel cards in supported systems.
Replaces hard disk drive media in supported systems.
Replaces individual memory modules.
Replaces expansion network interface cards.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Bilingualism in French and English is required
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level security clearance
College graduate from IT program or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Up to one year of work related experience.
Interactions with infrastructure teams, development teams and customers as required.
Experience with data center environment, network
