    Reporting to the Public Health Nursing Clinical Coordinator for Health Unit Aide (HUA) duties and the Team Leader for Administrative Clerk (Clerk) duties, the HUA / Clerk provides administrative support to the Child, Youth and Family Community Health (CYFCH) Program at various locations.

    Provides receptionist services to the public and other agencies. Types a variety of correspondence and reports. Inputs data critical to maintain program statistics and client health records.

    The HUA role is responsible for assisting with preparations for group sessions and immunization clinics (on and off site) including setting up and dismantling rooms and needed equipment.

    Orders biologicals for Child Health Clinics, school and influenza immunization clinics, physician offices and other health service providers.

    Orders and restocks supplies and pamphlets for CYFCH programs. Maintains vaccine fridges and related equipment.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education, Training And Experience

  • High school graduation, Secretarial or Office Administration Certificate, Medical Terminology and one (1) year recent, related experience including experience with patient scheduling and spreadsheet and database applications;
  • or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to keyboard at 50 wpm.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including a computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Must hold a valid BC Driver's Licence.
  • May be required to use a personal vehicle for use during working hours.
