The Catholic Social Services Supported Independent Living Team is recruiting for a variety of Community Disability Worker II positions.

Job Summary :

The Community Disability Workers of our SIL (Supported Independent Living) team work with the goal to empower individuals to live quality lives as full citizens in their communities.

Our team works with individuals living in the community with a variety of mental health diagnosis, addictions, and developmental disabilities.

We meet individuals where they are in their lives and provide assistance in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, emotional regulation, attending medical appointments, learning to navigate city transit, and accessing community resources to name a few areas.

Our team uses approaches rooted in positive supports, skill building and development, and the creation of supportive and professional relationships to assist individuals in creating a life that is meaningful for them, and in which they can experience their own sense of value or purpose.

We operate from a belief that housing is a primary need, and once that need is met, issues such as addictions or mental health can be better addressed.

Your resourcefulness, creativity, and attention to detail will help an individual find a home, if needed, and to shape their home into an environment that is safe for both them and those working with them.

Our team works side by side with individuals in their own homes and in community settings such as medical offices, banks, or recreation facilities.

In this role, you will support with the development and implementation of individual support plans to help individuals learn coping and self-regulation skills and to achieve their personal goals to live their best possible life.

Your ability to work within a team to implement a planned approach to service delivery, communicate effectively with the members of your team both verbally and in writing will be key to succeeding in a collaborative work environment.

Your skills in creating and maintaining professional and effective relationships with stakeholder and community resources will aid you in advocating for the needs of vulnerable individuals.

Knowledge of the Red Deer and surrounding community resources will be a great asset.

Please note, as our programs operate 24 hours per day, shift work is required and will include weekends. Hours of work are based on the needs of the individuals, therefore, shifts may vary.

Education & Qualifications :

  • A diploma or degree in Human Services or Social Work (or equivalent)
  • A minimum 1 year working with persons with developmental disabilities, behavior, mental health & addictions
  • Vulnerable Sector Check issued by RCMP or City Police
  • Child Intervention Record Check
  • Clear and current driver's abstract
  • A vehicle and valid Class 5 driver's license - requirement to transport clients in your personal vehicle
  • Proof of vehicle insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
