Homewood is growing and is looking for Psychiatrists to join our Regional Services team, particularly working with the Emergency Mental Health and Addictions Service (EMHAS).

This position is part of our team of psychiatrists and allied health workers who comprise our GW EMHAS (Guelph Wellington Emergency Mental Health and Addiction service EMHAS at the Guelph General Hospital.

This has a dedicated interdisciplinary team which includes psychology, mental health crisis nursing, social work, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, horticulture therapy and addiction services support.

Hours of work :

This is a Full-Time position and can be Salaried or Incorporated. We can also explore a locum as an option.

What you'll be doing

  • Assessment and treatment of mental health and addictions patients who present to the Emergency Department needing acute treatment for a psychiatric crisis or illness.
  • Able to work within a team of psychiatrists and allied health workers who comprise our GW EMHAS (Guelph Wellington Emergency Mental Health and Addiction Services).
  • Work collaboratively, and provide support when needed, to the consultation liaison psychiatrist, the short stay assessment unit psychiatrist, and the mental health and addictions emergency follow-up service psychiatrist.
  • Working collaboratively and in partnership with the Guelph General Hospital and Homewood Health Center.
  • What we're looking for

  • Licensed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Fellowship in Psychiatry or equivalent designation.
  • Fellowship or additional training in Addictions would be an asset
  • Proven experience working with a team of Psychiatrists and an inter-disciplinary team in a busy general hospital emergency room.
  • Proven leadership experience at a systems, program and team level
  • Proven record in driving growth and change management
  • Experience in developing innovative, evidence based programs and services
  • Proven ability in building high-performing teams
  • Teaching and research experience
  • Passion for excellent patient-centered and clinical care
  • Expertise in fostering integrated care involving both mental health and addictions
