This IT Analyst II - Senior Software Tester position provides support to AHS information technology related to the software testing and quality assurance of the provincial Electronic Health Record (EHR) Alberta Netcare Portal.
The position is part of a team that is responsible for operating, maintaining and enhancing the EHR.The IT Analyst II - Senior Software Tester position can often represent an escalation point from the IT Analyst I (tester) and is responsible for more advanced testing and quality assurance duties.
The position is a key contributor to the product development lifecycle and applies and develops a rich set of effective testing methodologies, working on all phases from initial planning through specification to delivery of the final product.
Using knowledge of industry standards and best practices, the incumbent will work closely with enterprise-wide stakeholders to ensure enhancements, product and system upgrades, and implementation of new applications or existing applications in new areas, meet business, organizational and user needs.
The incumbent will contribute to efforts to define and implement testing and QA policies, processes and procedures within the department and across the organization.
As an IT Analyst II, you will provide technical support related to information technology applications either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions.
You will ensure reliable operations of information systems, resolve complex technical problems, find solutions to customer needs, and lead projects and program initiatives.
You will be responsible for more advanced application, telecom or technology support duties. You will investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex problems that have typically been escalated several levels before assignment to this position, and will translate business requirements into technical requirements for a solution and recommend a potential approach to the vendor.
You will analyse the solution provided to ensure that it fits both technical requirements and business needs. You will also spend time on project or initiative leadership and delivery.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications :
performing software testing in waterfall and agile software development lifecycles; performing system testing and UAT activities.
Strong understanding of testing types : specification-based testing, risk-based testing, end-to-end testing, user / business process testing, compatibility testing, regression testing.
Strong logical problem solving skills under stressful situations.Skilled at customer service and relationship management.

Preferred Qualifications :
Software testing certification (e.g., ISTQB, QAI, IIST, ASQ).Experience performing test planning (estimating and writing test plans) and test control (monitoring and reporting) activities.
Implementation and execution of automated functional and non-functional (performance) tests.Experience with HP LoadRunner and / or Apache JMeter, and associated monitoring tools.
Ability to write and execution SQL queries of moderate complexity.Experience in a healthcare environment.
